    Tony Coveny

    Tony joined the Sanford Barlow law firm in 2008.

    He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center,  having been on the executive board of the Houston Law Review.  During law school, Tony interned for United States Federal District Judge David Hittner in the Southern District of Texas.  Immediately after graduation, Tony clerked for the Honorable Richard Edelman and the Honorable William J. Boyce of the Texas Fourteenth Court of Appeals.

    Tony is also a Professor of Political Science, having earned his Doctorate degree in Political Science from the University of New Mexico and a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the Latin American Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He has taught at such institutions as Vanderbilt University, Belmont University, and Saint Peter’s College.  Most recently, he taught at Prairie View A & M University, and was co-founder of the Pre-Law Institute for Minority Students.

    Tony has been a guest on National Public Radio’s Weekend Edition and Which Way LA?, as well as a number of local television and radio stations, providing commentary and analysis of political events as they unfold.  He has published articles on political topics, and more recently, authored a number of law review articles, including articles on Constitutional Rights, Bankruptcy Reform, the United States Supreme Court, and Preemption.
